Whys Rice Is The Staple Food Of India ?

India is one of the world's largest producers of rice, including white rice and brown rice, grown mostly in the eastern and southern parts of the country.

In India from north to South, East to West every part of the country includes rice in their daily meal. It is a stronger crop of the southern part of the country.

Rice is one of the prominent food of India. India has the largest area under rice cultivation. India is one of the leading producers of rice. Rice is the principal food crop in India. It is a dominant crop of the country. Being a rice crop is a tropical plant, it is a basic food crop of India.

Rice is also called the Kharif crop of India. It grows in a humid and hot climate. But it mainly grows in where it receives heavy rainfall areas. It requires 25 degree Celsius temperature and above and more than 100 cm of rainfall. In an area where receives very little rainfall in that it grows through irrigation. Rice grows on a variety of soils like silts, loams, and gravels. It can also tolerate alkaline as well as acid soils.

In 2018-19, total rice production in India is 281.37 million tonnes as compared to the previous year it produces only 277.49 million tonnes.

Rice can be cultivated by different methods based on the type of region. In India, people still using traditional methods to grow rice crops. India’s basmati rice very popular around the world. 6,000 different varieties of rice cultivated in the country. There are so many types of rice produces like brown rice, white rice, etc. Using rice we can make so many varieties like noodles, cakes, bread, and other products. The process of cooking rice is it can be boiled or steamed.

In various parts of the country, they cultivate various types of rice. Like in Kerala they grow red rice. Through rice, we can make so many types of dishes like Biryani, Pulav, Vegetable rice, etc. Most of the Indian population depends on rice only.
