8 Healthy Recipes made from Rice
Rice is a type of grain eaten as a staple food in many parts of Asia. It is a cherished ingredient in India. Many food products are made from rice which we use on daily basis. Following are some products made from rice.
1. Rice Vinegar
We use vinegar when we cook food. Vinegar which we buy from stores is made from fermentation of ethanol by acetic acid bacteria. But in many Asian cultures, vinegar is made from fermented rice or rice wine. Chinese rice vinegar is stronger than Japanese vinegar. Rice vinegar is sweet and mild as compared to the acidic version.
2. Rice Bread
Rice bread is made from rice flour and not from wheat flour. It will not cause negative reactions for people who are gluten intolerant as it is gluten free. Rice bread is much lower in calories as compared to wheat bread.
3. Rice Noodles
Rice noodles are noodles made from rice. Noodles come in form of white and brown rice. They can be bought dried, frozen, or fresh. They give nutrients in form of iron, zinc, fiber, etc.
4. Rice Milk
Milk is also made from rice as it is made from coconut, almonds, cashew, etc. This milk is made by pressing rice through a millstream to strain out the pressed grains, and is made from brown rice. This milk does not contain many nutrients but is a recent favourite among weight loss lovers.
5. Rice Wine
Rice wine is an alcoholic beverage. It is fermented and distilled from rice. It is traditionally consumed in South East Asia, South Asia and East Asia. Rice wine has alcohol contents of 18-25% ABV.
6. Rice Soap
Rice soap is made from rice and milk. It imparts a whitening effect to the skin and leaves a gentle glow on the face. When used regularly, it helps in lightening skin tone, lightening scars and other dark spots of the face.
7. Rice Cake
Rice cake is made with brown rice and contains low calorie. They are low in saturated fats and sugar depending on the variety purchased. It is better snack than eating a bag of chips or crackers.
8. Rice Pudding
Rice pudding is healthier as it is made with natural ingredients. It is a best alternative to ice cream and other treats. It contains less calories. It provides a good course of calcium, 4 grams of protein per ½ cup and is low in cholesterol.
